Fue un partido decisivo para Red Bulls ante su similar de Honduras el CD Olimpia, ya que en el partido de ida quedaron empatados, a un gol por bando, las ventajas para Red Bulls le favorecieron con una cancha mojada y una noche fría donde los de casa esta acostumbrados a jugar, y para el Olimpia  las condiciones del tiempo les exigía  jugar con más complicaciones.

El Olimpia más convencido de ganar y llevarse la clasificación a cuartos de final en este torneo CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE , pero se pasaron los minutos y el Olimpia no supo concretar las acciones ofensivas, mientras que Red Bulls aguanto el mal momento que pasaba y logró emparejar las cosas para finalizar los 45 de la primera mitad.

Despues del receso los Red Bulls entraron con ideas nuevas y mas ofensivos creando acciones de peligro desde del  inicio de la parte complementaria, los cambios hechos por Jesse Marsch en lo táctico le rindió fruto con un gol de su goleador Wright Phillips que tras dejar en velocidad a dos defensas, remato a puerta dejando a Escober portero de Olimpia sin oportunidad de reaccionar , así Red Bulls conseguía la ventaja momentánea aunque faltaba mucho por jugar todavia .

Minuto 63 llego el segundo gol de Red Bulls para dejar cuesta arriba a el Olimpia que aunque lucho hasta el final no pudo romper el parado defensivo de su oponente , el gol lo hizo Sean Davis (27) con una asistencia de Tyler Adams que gano linea de fondo y asiste a Davis que tras rematar la pelota rebota a un defensa y la desvía para nuevamente dejar a Escober sin poder detener el tiro que toco la red .

Con un global de 3 a 1 el New York Red Bulls pasa a la siguiente face del torneo y el Olimpia se despide de la Concacaf Champions League 2018.

HARRISON, N.J. (March 1, 2018)   – The New York Red Bulls announced today a partnership with Jersey City, N.J.-based Provident Bank.      As part of the agreement, Provident Bank will receive the designation of “Official Banking Partner of the New York Red Bulls.”     In addition, Provident Bank will receive the naming rights to the 4 th   and 5 th   luxury suite levels of Red Bull Arena.     The space will now be known as the “Provident Bank Suite Lounge.”
As a marketing partner, Provident Bank will also receive several marketing and promotional assets and access to VIP hospitality experiences. Provident will also participate in community development programs with the Red Bulls.
