CHIVAS USA SET TO FACE FC DALLAS SATURDAY NIGHT AT HDC: After facing Houston last weekend, Chivas USA takes on the other Texas team, hosting FC Dallas at The Home Depot Center.  Kicking off at 7:30 p.m. PT, Saturday’s match will be broadcast on KWHY, Prime Ticket, and W Radio 690 AM.  The match marks defender Heath Pearce’s first MLS appearance against his former team.  Single-game tickets are on sale now, and fans can also take advantage of great rates for Season Seats and multi-game packs. CHIVAS USA WILL BE AT DODGER STADIUM FOR ‘VIVA LOS DODGERS DAY’ SUNDAY: The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chivas USA will offer two ticket packages for the first time ever that include tickets to both a Dodger game on “Viva Los Dodgers Day” (6/19 vs. HOU at 1:10 p.m.) and a Chivas USA match at The Home Depot Center (7/16 vs. New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m.). Chivas USA will bring their mobile experience to the “Viva Los Dodgers Day” on June 19th, with a free family festival in lot 6. Chivas USA Brand Ambassadors, the ChivaGirls and the ChivaFighter will be on site. Chivas USA forward Tristan Bowen and midfielder Gerson Mayen will take photos with fans and sign autographs in the “Viva Los Dodgers” autograph tent. MONDAINI GOAL NOT ENOUGH IN HOUSTON: Chivas USA fell to the Houston Dynamo 2-1 in Houston’s Robertson Stadium on Saturday.  The Goats took the lead on a Marcos Mondaini goal in the 7th minute, but were ultimately undone by two goals from the home side.  The goal was the third of Mondaini’s MLS career, and second in as many games.  The Argentine forward is now in a four-way tie for the Chivas USA goals lead, with Justin Braun, Alejandro Moreno and Nick LaBrocca.  For more information on the game, including highlights and reactions, please visit cdchivasusa.com.

SIX GOATS MAKE APPERANCE ON ALL-STAR BALLOT: The list of players nominated for the MLS All-Star team was released last week, and six Chivas USA players made the ballot.  The Red-and-White players listed were: Justin Braun, Dan Kennedy, Ante Jazic, Nick LaBrocca, Alejandro Moreno and Heath Pearce.  Fans can vote for their favorite players at mlssoccer.com/all-star/ballot-2011.  Voting ends on July 5th, the All-Star team takes on Manchester United on July 27th at Red Bull Arena.

GOATS GETTING HEALTHY: This week marks the healthiest the Chivas USA squad has been in some time.  Several players including Blair Gavin, Seth Owusu, Tristan Bowen and Paulo Nagamura have recently enjoyed returns to full health. Only one player features on this week’s injury report: defender Jimmy Conrad, who is still working hard to recover from concussion symptoms.

MORENO BACK ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY WITH VENEZUELA: Forward Alejandro Moreno returned to the Venezuela National Team camp after Chivas USA’s game against Houston.  The veteran will be with Venezuela for the team’s preparation and run through the CONMEBOL Copa América tournament.  Moreno has featured several times for his national team this season, and most recently played against World Cup champion’s Spain last week.

MENDOZA APPROACHING CHIVAS USA APPEARANCE RECORD: Francisco ‘Panchito’ Mendoza has now played in 120 games for Chivas USA, needing only four more appearances to surpass Jonathan Bornstein’s record of 123 appearances,. Mendoza, the Mexican player with the most all-time Major League Soccer appearances, returned to Chivas USA this season after playing the past two years in Mexico.  The fan favorite and Chivas USA original has appeared in 9 matches this season, and passed Sacha Kljestan’s 114 appearances earlier this year.

CHIVAS USA YOUTH TEAMS LOOK AHEAD TO SUMMER SHOWCASE: The Chivas USA U-18 and U-16 teams are preparing to head to Frisco, Texas for the Development Academy Summer Showcase June 23rd-28th after finishing up their league play.  The U-18’s drew 1-1 with Cosmos Academy West last Saturday, while the U-16’s fell 2-0.  More information, including league standings, statistics, and more can be found by following the links for U-18 Team and the U-16 Team. PEARCE PLAYS EVERY MINUTE: Defender Heath Pearce has played every minute so far this season, his first with Chivas USA.  He has now started all fourteen games, playing a total of 1,260 minutes.  Ben Zemanski and Nick LaBrocca are the only other players to have started all eleven games, but they have each been substituted at least once, leaving the 26-year old Pearce as the only Goat to play every possible minute thus far.

‘CHIVAS AT THE PARK’ CONTINUES SATURDAY JULY 9th IN TORRANCE: Chivas USA’s popular ‘Chivas at the Park’ program will continue with a session on Saturday, July 9 at Torrance’s Normandale Recreation Center, 22400 S. Halldale, Torrance 90501. The clinics offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family.  For only $5 each participant receives 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. CHIVAS USA’S POPULAR COACHING SEMINAR COMING UP IN JULY: Join Chivas USA for a two day coaching seminar and receive insight on Chivas USA’s complete development system, from the youth system through the first team!

Seminar topics will include principals of play and player development, and an on-field session will work on technical training. Registration is just $125 per coach, and includes a ticket to Chivas USA’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m.. The two-day event will be held on Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, and will feature on-field instruction, presentations from Head Coach Robin Fraser, Assistant Coach Greg Vanney, strength and conditioning coach Jim Liston as well as U-18 Head Coach Sacha van der Most.
