DODGERS’ OPENING HOMESTAND BEGINS TOMORROW
Opening Day and Jackie Robinson Day bookend the team’s first games in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers will open the 2012 season at home tomorrow as they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (Tuesday, April 10 – Thursday, April 12) and the San Diego Padres (Friday, April 13 – Sunday, April 15). Opening Day festivities will celebrate the 1962 Dodgers and the 50th Anniversary of Dodger Stadium, presented by State Farm, and on Jackie Robinson Day, the Dodgers will celebrate the 65th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier as a Dodger.
Giveaways during the Dodgers’ first homestand include Magnet Schedules presented by Automobile Club of Southern California on Opening Day, Clayton Kershaw Cy Young Replicas presented by StubHub! on Wednesday, April 11, Friday Night Fireworks on April 13, Dodger Stadium Replicas presented by State Farm on Saturday, April 14, and Kids Jackie Robinson Sweatbands presented by Melissa’s Produce on Sunday, April 15.

Tuesday, April 10 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – Opening Day – 1:10 p.m.
Opening Day at Dodger Stadium, presented by Automobile Club of Southern California, will launch the club’s season-long celebration of Dodger Stadium’s 50th Anniversary. Pregame ceremonies will celebrate the 1962 Los Angeles Dodgers, the first team to ever play at Dodger Stadium. The full details of Opening Day’s festivities are outlined in a separate Opening Day release.
Fans at Opening Day can purchase a special commemorative Dodgers Magazine featuring a special gatefold cover with a photo from Opening Day at Dodger Stadium in 1962. The April magazine features NL Cy Young Award winner and Opening Day starter Clayton Kershaw on the cover. Inside the April magazine are a story about Kershaw and his trip to Zambia this offseason, features on Dodger players and a look at Maury Wills’ and Don Drysdale’s award-winning 1962 seasons. Fans can purchase Dodgers Magazine at merchandise stands throughout the stadium or at www.dodgers.com/magazine.
The Dodgers Playbill this homestand features the 1962 Dodgers on the cover and includes a look back at Opening Day 1962, a preview of the 2012 team and information about ticket offers and upcoming promotions. Fans receive the playbill upon entering the Dodger Stadium parking lots.
Also debuting tomorrow is the 2012 edition of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yearbook, featuring a collage of the great moments and influential people from Dodger Stadium’s five decades on the cover. Inside are a look at the 50 greatest moments in Dodger Stadium history, a historical piece on Hall of Famer Walter O’Malley’s building of Dodger Stadium and photo highlights from Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw’s outstanding seasons. Wednesday, April 11 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:10 p .m.
The first 30,000 fans with valid tickets at Wednesday’s game will receive Clayton Kershaw Cy Young Replicas presented by StubHub! and Kershaw will be ceremonially presented with the original trophy during pregame ceremonies.
Thursday, April 12 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:10 p.m.
Outdoorsman Bear Grylls, who starred on “Man vs. Wild,” will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and Trisha Lopez of Pico Rivera will sing the national anthem. Rivera was selected after auditioning at the Red, White and Blue national anthem auditions.
Friday, April 13 vs. San Diego Padres – 7:10 p.m.
Before the game, Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw will be given their Player’s Choice Awards, Kemp, Kershaw and Andre Ethier will be presented with their Rawlings Gold Glove Awards and Kemp will receive his Silver Slugger Award.
Singer Carly Rae Jepsen will perform the national anthem and God Bless America and the current “American Idol” finalists will be guests of the Dodgers at the game.
Dodger alumni Tim Leary will sign autographs for fans in Autograph Alley from 5:10 – 6:30 p.m.
Fans can enjoy Friday Night Fireworks from the field after the game. This week’s fireworks show will celebrate Dodger award winners who have played at Dodger Stadium through the decades.
Saturday, April 14 vs. San Diego Padres – 6:10 p.m.
Dodger Stadium Replicas presented by State Farm will be given to the first 30,000 people at the game with valid tickets.
The band The Airborne Toxic Event, which is made up of L.A. natives, will perform the national anthem and Nancy Bea Hefley, who is celebrating her 25th year as Dodger Stadium’s organist, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The 2K Sports RV will be at Dodger Stadium on Saturday and Sunday as it tours the country. The RV tour invites Dodgers fans to demo MLB 2K12 on Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3, have their picture placed on the cover of the game, take home limited edition swag and take a few swings in the batting cages.
Dodger alumni Kenny Landreaux will sign autographs for fans in Autograph Alley from 4:10 – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 15 vs. San Diego Padres – Jackie Robinson Day – 1:10 p.m.
The Dodgers will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day on the 65th anniversary of the day Robinson broke the color barrier as a Dodger and all uniformed personnel will wear number 42 in his honor.
The First African Methodist Episcopal Church Unity Choir will perform the national anthem and God Bless America and seven of the Dodgers’ Team 42 scholars, who receive college scholarships through the Dodgers Dream Foundation and the Jackie Robinson Foundation, will be recognized on the field before the game.
Kids Jackie Robinson Sweatbands presented by Melissa’s Produce will be given to the first 15,000 kids age 14 and under in attendance at the game.
Sunday is the first Dodger Youth Baseball Day of the season and Little League teams will have the opportunity to parade on the field before the game.
It is also the first Viva Los Dodgers Day of the season, presented by State Farm, Chevrolet and Time Warner Cable. The season-long initiative is in its third year and celebrates the legacy of Latin American Dodger players past and present at a family-friendly pregame festival held in lot 6 two hours prior to each Sunday’s game.
